Flame Retardants (WEE & ROHS) Directives For Electrical and Electronic Equipment Manufacturers:

The WEE directive mandates the collection, re-use, re-cycling and energy recovery of electrical and electronic equipment at the end of its useful life. This will prevent such waste from going to a landfill.

The ROHS directive seeks to eliminate the presence of certain hazardous substances in the environment and specifically in electrical equipment that will be treated and recycled at end of life. It does this by restricting the presence of these substances in equipment that will be sold after July 2006 to level below specified maximum concentration values.
